I <3 Feta

Sweetbabyjames, I have a new favorite restaurant. Last night, before we went on to see Revenge of the Sith at the Cinerama, tibadoh and I went with four other folks to Lola's in Belltown. The food...was outstanding. Marvelous. Everything was good.

We were all in agreement to get the Big Dinner--necessary, since to order it for even one person, everyone at the table has to buy in. If someone had decided against it, I had two possible backup options with the Lamb Burger or the Lola Sampler.

Since we had six in our party, for variety, we were able to include additional items from the menu (available online, which is how I'm jogging my memory here). The Big Dinner for 6 included, in this order:

Lola Spreads--pita with spreads of "barrel-aged minty feta", roasted red pepper, tzatziki, cauliflower-anchovy spread, tarama-tender herb spread, and garlic scented skordalia (this bready, herby concoction),

Salmon kebab with sweet fennel,

Portobello kebab (instead of the squid kebab),

Greek salad with HUGE pieces of feta, cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives,

Cumin-spiced leg of lamb,

Seafood tagine,

Horta,

and Smashed garlic fried potatoes.

Our Big Dinner Finale included goat cheese turnovers in honey and mint...and a birthday dessert for tibadoh simply called "Dessert Donuts". These were the best damn donut-like dessert I've ever had, with greek yogurt ice cream. OH, man. All so good. Accompanied by the great Lola red table wine.

We were really full. 5 out of 5 of those little umbrellas.
